Jazmin Hamuy
Jazmin Hamuy, born and raised in Santiago de Chile, began her martial arts journey at the age of 17, initially choosing kickboxing as a way to channel her energy, especially since she was known to be a bit of a “trouble girl” in school. The thrill of striking quickly captivated her, and it wasn’t long before she stepped into the ring, where she achieved an impressive 6-1 record in kickboxing.
After a year of focusing solely on kickboxing, her first coach suggested she try Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with the idea of potentially transitioning to MMA in the future. At first, BJJ didn’t appeal to her as much, and it took over a year for her to develop a genuine interest. This initial reluctance meant she had to work twice as hard in training to make the techniques feel natural.
When she turned 21, a strong desire to explore the world emerged, leading her to travel extensively through Brazil, Europe, and eventually the United States. She found that Jiu-Jitsu offered a unique freedom to compete internationally without needing a full corner team, which made solo travel and participation in tournaments more accessible. Despite often competing alone with no one in her corner, Jazmin secured several significant titles.
Her dedication and achievements in Jiu-Jitsu culminated in being awarded her Black Belt by Guilherme Ribeiro, a Black Belt under Ricardo Vieira from Rio. Embracing her adventurous spirit, she decided to move to the USA, where her martial arts journey continues to be defined by courage, discipline, and a thirst for new experiences.
She is also available for private classes. Please call to schedule an appointment.
